Big Sky, Montana is known for its incredible skiing and slope-side homes and condos, but skiing here is just one of the many winter activities that brings people back to Big Sky year after year. The ski season begins around Thanksgiving and ends mid-April, to guarantee plenty of Big Sky, Montana, skiing.

Cross-country skiing

Lone Mountain Ranch, a working ranch turned paradise, is now named as North America's #1 Nordic Ski center, with over 80 kilometers of groomed trails to discover. Ski rentals, lessons, trail and lunch can all take place right at Lone Mountain-a wonderful alternative to downhill skiing.

Snowmobile and Snowcoach

Big Sky is surrounded by National Forest land and dozens of snowmobile trail opportunities right in our own backyard. In addition, West Yellowstone, just 45 miles from Big Sky, is known worldwide for its snowmobiling. Between West Yellowstone and neighboring Island Park, ID, miles and miles of trails give riders the opportunity for free reign on their sleds around the border of Yellowstone National Park. If a guided snowmobile or snowcoach trip into Yellowstone is more your style, then we are happy to arrange one for you with one of the many outfitters who can take you on a trip through the Nation's oldest National Park.

Dog Sledding

If you find yourself seeking experiences with local character, try taking the helm of a ten-dog sled on a trail that winds into the north side of Lone Peak into the Moonlight Basin area. The remote Spanish Peaks provide the backdrop for your Klondike-inspired bliss. Spotting moose, bald eagles and a wolf or two will certainly add to the experience not soon to be forgotten.

With such an array of options, your days and nights will fill up fast. Resort Property Management offers slope-side accommodations, as well as other vacation rental home and affordable condominium options. We'll make your stay as comfortable as possible, so all you have to do is have fun.

Most of our slope-side cabins include hot tubs, as do our rental homes and condominiums, and all are comfortably decorated. Some accommodate up to 14 people—perfect for a family reunion or ski club trip! With a variety of dining, shopping and entertainment—such as dinner sleigh rides at one of the nearby ranches—Big Sky, Montana, boasts a truly spectacular and memorable skiing vacation for the whole family.
