Big Sky, Montana, is home to the Biggest Skiing in America®. Need we say more? Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin combine to offer over 5,500 acres of skiable terrain, and nearly 4,500 in vertical descent. Plus, with an average yearly snowfall of over 400 inches, the conditions are nearly always fantastic.

Beginners can take lessons and enjoy the long, wide-open, groomed green runs. Intermediate skiers will enjoy the high percentage of terrain dedicated to runs at their level, and the black-diamond runs available from the Lone Peak Tram will thrill those seeking expert-level skiing.
Rentals are available, as are lessons for all levels and group sizes. Special children’s classes will prepare the littlest members of your group for fun on the slopes.

Lone Peak, impressive and daunting, is the feature of Big Sky’s scenic skyline, and provides a stunning backdrop for après-ski. Relax on an outdoor patio as the sunlight starts to fade, or enjoy performances by local musicians inside the lodges. For dinner, enjoy pizza or family-style fares at one of the local hang-outs, or make a reservation for fine dining at an upscale eatery.

Cross-country skiing

Lone Mountain Ranch, a working ranch turned paradise, is now named as North America’s #1 Nordic Ski center, with over 80 kilometers of groomed trails to discover. Ski rentals, lessons, trail and lunch can all take place right at Lone Mountain—a wonderful alternative to downhill skiing.

Snowmobile and Snowcoach

Big Sky is surrounded by National Forest land and dozens of snowmobile trail opportunities right in our own backyard. In addition, West Yellowstone, just 45 miles from Big Sky, is known worldwide for its snowmobiling. Between West Yellowstone and neighboring Island Park, ID, miles and miles of trails give riders the opportunity for free reign on their sleds around the border of Yellowstone National Park. If a guided snowmobile or snowcoach trip into Yellowstone is more your style, then we are happy to arrange one for you with one of the many outfitters who can take you on a trip through the Nation’s oldest National Park.

Dog Sledding

If you find yourself seeking experiences with local character, try taking the helm of a ten-dog sled on a trail that winds into the north side of Lone Peak into the Moonlight Basin area. The remote Spanish Peaks provide the backdrop for your Klondike-inspired bliss. Spotting moose, bald eagles and a wolf or two will certainly add to the experience not soon to be forgotten.

With such an array of options, your days and nights will fill up fast. Resort Property Management offers slope-side accommodations, as well as other vacation rental home and affordable condominium options. We’ll make your stay as comfortable as possible, so all you have to do is have fun.
