WARM WEATHER ACTIVITIES
Fly fishing | Yellowstone National
Park
Big Sky, Montana, offers
a wide variety of fun and relaxing summer activities for everyone, from hiking,
horseback riding, fly fishing and
golfing, to touring Yellowstone National Park.
Fly fishing is a popular
summer activity with our renters. Big Sky is centrally located to three of the
top trout streams in the U.S.—the Gallatin, Madison, and Yellowstone Rivers.
The world-famous blue-ribbon Gallatin River is so close that you can rent a
house right on its banks.
A great way to explore
Big Sky and Yellowstone Country’s beautiful outdoors is on horseback. Tours are available
throughout the summer months. Jake’s Horses has guided Big Sky locals
and visitors alike, for over 30 years and is permitted to guide your party in
the Gallatin Range, Lee Metcalf Wilderness, and in Yellowstone National Park.
Another very popular
summer activity is touring Yellowstone National Park, only 45 minutes south of Big
Sky. Resort Property Management works with Yellowstone Tour Guides, who offer a
variety of the finest tours. From day trips year-round and overnight trips
during the summer—including Old Faithful, lunch at the Old Faithful Inn,
wildlife tours and hiking excursions—you’ll see the Park up close and personal.
The nearby rivers provide
great access for white-water rafting, kayaking, and canoeing enthusiasts, and
RPM works directly with Geyser Whitewater
Expeditions and Grizzly
Outfitters.
The Gallatin National
forest offers a wealth of maintained hiking trails for those who want to
venture into the wilderness. Ousel Falls is right down the street from some of
our best properties. The RPM staff can provide hiking trail maps for your use.
If you’d rather stay close
to home, the Arnold Palmer Signature Big Sky Golf Course is minutes from any of
our rental homes, and some are right across the street. Big Sky offers the
perfect climate to golf while enjoying “the Big Sky” on our beautiful, lush
greens. After a full day of activity, our guests usually like to relax in a hot
tub overlooking Lone Peak or dine at one of the many local restaurants. Choose
from pizza or a sports bar to fine dining at Lone Mountain Ranch or the 320
Guest Ranch.
